High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

I love middle eastern food and Lebanese Grill definitely satisfied the need for it. However, the last time I went here I ordered take out (lamb shish kabob lunch special with tabbouleh salad for an extra $2) it was all delicious but there were 5 measly pieces of lamb! My total bill was around $15! Quite expensive. Though, as a side note, the portion of tabbouleh and rice was generous.

It doesn't matter if we are going East or West on Hall road, we always stop here for the best Lebanese I have had. worth hunting it down... Tell Ali we sent you..

Really good Lebanese food and great service. Hard to find Lebanese food that actually tastes like it should. The garlic paste is awesome on their fresh serein bread! Best in 48042!!

Service is fast and friendly. Fantastic food. Great lemon slushed. Great garlic sauce. The Troy location is not as well run.

Deelish Lebanese!!! All the staff are Lebanese and food is very authentic. Hard time choosing from an expansive menu and settled on the guava smoothie, chicken shawarma, and Arabic coffee. Came with delicious aioli sauce. Yum!

Great food, large portions, so much that you are almost guaranteed to bring some home, love the garlic sauce

This place was VERY good. Side note: does anyone know if the one on Rochester Rd. S. in Troy (same name) is the same as this one? Menu looks slightly different. My boyfriend took us here for a late dinner today. I had the chicken shwarma and the chicken rice soup, which was interesting because it was tomato-based. He had some sort of lamb and hummus dinner, along with a fattoush salad, which was DELICIOUS - I definitely stole some of it, ha. They also give you (free!) bread and the garlic thing, which is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE to eat. And theirs rivals Palm Palace, my favorite Lebanese/Mediterranean place, too. It's also pretty reasonable, their sandwiches are about $5 and a cup of soup was $2.99. Service was great too; the only thing I can (curmudgeonly, but still) complain about is that I wish the water was refilled a tiny bit faster. I will be back here if in the area.

Ordered a carryout of rice and chicken schwarma sandwich. I thought pita bread was day old, and stale. Rice bland, but sandwich was decent. Maybe dining in is a better option.

  • Henry A.

I really do like much of their food, but they charge a lot for what you're getting. The chicken is superb as is their lamb shank! The only food related negative I would say is that their Lentil soup. It's a little on the plain jane side, almost as if it came out of a big can rather than home made. If you're eating in the pita that comes with the garlic spread is nice and warm and fresh, but if you're ordering out you get flat lifeless wedges in a baggie. I'd much rather get fresh baked and risk them getting soggy in a to-go container than the pre packaged deck of pita. I'll go there again as it's convenient and pretty good, but it's not my go-to place when I think mediteranian cuisine.

  • Tara M.

The food is good. I prefer Ollie's better, but I think I like the Lebanese Grill's bread better. Their soups are hot and flavorful and the food portions are big. So big, that you can share or have left overs. I found their prices to be a bit pricey, but with the large portions, I guess it evens out. I would return. Their décor is dated and worn.

Food was ok but the service was terrible. Prices are a little bit higher then the competition. To many other better choices around the area... Probably Won't be back.

Some of the best service around. Great food & they really care about their customers. Speedy carry out & everything is flavorful & fresh. I've been coming here for 5 years & never had a single complaint!

Fabulous!! Fresh and FREE garlic dip?! YES please!! Their round pitas are always warm and you can request more than the few they supply. They don't have a liquor license, but it isn't make or break it for me. The rice is wonderful. The chicken has the best flavor of any place I have tried, and the dressing (which they sell by the bottle) rocks my world!! Their portions are large and prices good. Dinners come with soup or salad, too! The servers are wonderful and know us as regulars. We just LOVE this place. I have tried lots of other Lebanese places, and this blows them all away!!

Today my boyfriend and I dined here for the first time, right after my Mom and Aunt dined here and raved about it. Nice little gem! Service was wonderful and our waiter really knew the menu very well and was able to answer all of our questions. I ordered the super chicken schwarma sandwich($4.99) - filled with chicken, hummus and tabouli. I got the combo for $3 more. It came with rice or fries and a beverage. The waiter was kind enough to include my boyfriends pop since I got water. My boyfriend got the lamb chops meal- served with soup (chicken and rice), hummus, and rice ($23) The garlic dip and bread was excellent. I love that the garlic dip was served warm. Definitely complimented the bread nicely! The chicken and rice soup was awesome. Piping hot and filled with tons of vegetables. Lots of flavor! I loved my sandwich. The tabouli in the sandwich was a nice touch and definitely gave my sandwich tons of flavor. The hummus added texture to the sandwich and the chicken was very tasteful. You could taste all the grill marks. Rice had nuts on top of it so more like rice pilaf. Definitely beats rice with red sauce. My boyfriend loved his lamb chops. He never had lamb chops before so he had no idea how they would taste but his mouth started watering as soon as his food was placed in front of him. Lots of seasoning and lots of flavor. Similar to gyro meat but so much better he said. Good to the last bone. Portion was huge and he left with leftovers. Service was awesome and very fast. Very clean. Pricing was spot on. Definitely get what you pay for and more. We'll be back again soon!

I was recently working in the area and I was craving Middle Eastern for lunch. I stopped in and ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and a small hummus. They made my order pretty quickly. First, the chicken shawarma sandwich. The meat was good, grilled and seasoned well. However, I'm used to having pickled turnips in it. Theirs had just regular pickles which made me disappointed. The hummus was unforgivably bad. There was no tahini in it, it was blander than bland, just chickpeas. Gross. They did give me a ton of pita bread to go with the hummus but overall, I would not eat here again.

My wife and I had the pleasure of eating here a couple weeks ago. Although we do not get over to the east side of suburbia too often we were in the area and love Mediterranean food. We were not disappointed! We got the Mediterranean Chicken which was tender and the sauce was very tasty. The lentil soup was excellent and the service was fast. I had to let the manager know as compliments sometimes are rare but should not be rare at this restaurant. I have eaten at most of the Med-style restaurants in Dearborn and usually eat at a larger "chain" that is located in Brighton. Whenever I am anywhere near the Shelby area-this will be my destination for lunch or dinner. Keep up the good work.

Service was very good. Friendly and professional. Schwarma was good especially the chicken. Veggie combo was lacking flavor. Pita bread warm warm and the dip (yogurt based I think) was very good. Nice little place but not our favorite.

The aroma of the chicken grilling over open flame is quite alluring ....as I walk to Costco weekly, so we finally went inside. Truly it was not too crowded at 5pm on a Saturday, prompt greetings from the host & were seat ed immediately. Linda burst onto the scene..and took beverage orders & delivered piping hot pita & endless garlic dip. [ which was nice as we planned on trying some, but here it is free ! ] It was the absolute best texture & blend of garlic/oils , creamy & just enough bite to have you desiring more. I ordered the fattoush shawarma salad Which was very VERY GOOD! Love that dressing & the super fresh array of greens. My bride ordered the rice & almond salad w/shawarma The toasted almonds were a very nice touch as was the wild rice. I'd truly give it 5 stars in a minute, with only one exception, the color & texture of the shawarma, was not very familiar as most places.

  • Terry G.

Good so far! I went there the other day and had their crushed lentil soup, falafel sandwich and the green potassium shake. Everything was great as usual. This is my favorite Lebanese restaurant. They always bring hot pita bread out and a garlic dip when you first sit down.

Wack. Greasy rice, tasteless lentil soup, undercooked chicken. Pretty much the worst Lebanese food I've had ever.. These homies need to step their game up, bro.

  • Kelly S.

This first timer found the food to be delicious, fresh and very wholesome. I always appreciate eating out AND eating healthy. I had the Lamb Galaba with fries (had a craving for the fries) and lentil soup. The soup and main meal had a perfect portion of spices and they were both served at the right temperature. I would have preferred my lamb to come in larger chunks and would have preferred to get a wider variety of grilled vegetables. The meal was served mostly with white, sliced onions, carrots and to a lesser extent, mushrooms. But overall this meal was a hit. Mom had a chicken shish-ka-bob. Her chicken was fresh and served in very large chunks. The salads were crisp and delicious. As usual I couldn't get enough of the bread and dip. The inside dining space is small but decorated beautifully, the seating is comfortable. I wish they served wine but other than that it was a very positive experience and we will be back.

I usually come here for lunch because of the garlic sauce (Toum). It's my personal favorite among places like Palm Palace and Ollie's. They have the best Toum as far as i'm concerned. I haven't been here for dinner so I can't speak for it, but the sandwiches are really good. I've had the super falafel and super chicken schwarmas. The one time I got fries, they were still soaked in oil. I've also had several juices which were really good. The waitstaff is very friendly. I haven't been in their bathroom. I haven't had to go while I was there. check out the toum though.

To sum it up: decent food/okay service/a little pricey. The garlic dip with hot pita bread...well, I could eat that all day and be satisfied. The bonus here is that it comes with your meal for free. Loved it. The children each had an order of burgers and fries. The fries were tasty and the girls seemed to like the burgers but to me they looked pre-formed/frozen and a little dry. One of my daughters had a strawberry mango smoothie. I had one sip of it and then couldn't stop myself from drinking more. It was fresh and delicious. Hubby and I each had the chicken schwarma platter. He had fries with his and I had rice. I wish I would have ordered the fries. The rice pilaf is just not my thing, so maybe I'm not a great judge of a good rice pilaf. The meals came with a nice, fresh salad with house dressing on it. The chicken was tasty and plentiful - we could have survived on just one platter because we each only ate half. We probably should have too, after seeing the bill. The service wasn't fantastic. We had multiple servers so I really don't know who our main waiter was. It took too long for anyone to come to our table and when someone did, she came to ask if anyone had helped us. When we said no, she took our order so maybe she was our official server, but we only saw her a couple of times afterwards, in between the other people. The whole meal came to around $60.00 (including flat pop for me and my husband) which seemed on the high side for the type of restaurant and service we received. I'm not shy about spending a lot of money on a good meal, but this one wasn't a stand-out. It is a pretty small restaurant with mostly booths on either side and a row of tables in the middle. The dining area and bathroom were clean and the people who worked there were pleasant, but this isn't a place I'd rush to return to.

One of my clients introduced me to Lebanese Grill and I must say that it has quickly become one of my favorites. Although I don't get a chance to dine in very often, both the food and the service have always been excellent. I highly recommend their Super Falafel sandwich wrap. It makes a great lunch or a light dinner. They also have a nice assortment of appetizers, such as hommus and grape leaves, that make a great carry-out for when you want to pick up something quick to bring to a friend's house. I also appreciate the selection of vegetarian appetizers and entrees. Overall, my go-to place when I'm in the mood for Middle Eastern cuisine.

A light dinner tonight: garlic sauce, hummus and Lebanese house salad. The dressing on the salad is excellent. The garlic sauce and hummus are staples each time we come here. Service is quick and excellent!

Excellent lamb and hummus appetizer is perfect as a meal itself. Also love the super meat sharma sandwich for something light and the sampler dinners to share. Have not had anything here that I have not liked.

Food was the only reason I gave it a four star. Service not so great. The waiters thought it was a hangout more than a job. Carpet needs to be replaced asap, it's smells and looks dirty. I will be back to update my review hopefully that they change.

Today was my first time dining at the Lebanese Grill. My boyfriend Dave and I usually go to a little Lebanese place in Warren, but we lacked time, so we decided to go out on a limb and try this one. It was just "ok". I ordered the Meat Shawarma (forgive my spelling, I may have just butchered that, lol) and was a little disappointed. It wouldn't have been so bad had the meat not been super dry. I also got the chicken and rice soup, which was more like.. Carrot and Carrot juice soup, with a little chicken in there somewhere. Not horrible at all, just not what I expected. I do have to say, though, despite my disappointment with those, the garlic and bread was absolutely delicious. I kept this at three stars, not because of my disappointment with my meal selection.. That can happen anywhere. I've just truly experienced much better. Also, the service wasn't really.. Service. The busboy (or man, I should say..) actually brought us our drinks and the garlic/bread. Why did I tip the waitress again? lol. Will I go back? Doubtful.

Can you please open a rest. in Austin?! All the food we had was wonderfully flavorful. We left nothing on our plates. Our waiter was very polite and offered us Baklava with our coffee. I won't forget this food, ever.

I love this place. I always order the combo for two. It says it feeds two, but honestly I've shared the platter with my parents and my brother and still had left overs. It comes with two salads or soups, freshly baked pita with garlic sauce, a platter that is oval shaped and about a foot and a half in length that as 1 chicken kafta, 1 beef/lamb kafta, 1 lamb kabob, 1 chicken kabob, about a cup of shredded chicken and shredded lamb, some grilled veggies and an option of rice or fries at the bottom of the dish. It also has another small bowl of garlic sauce and I'm not sure exactly what the other sauce is, I call it euro sauce, but it goes with red meat and it's healthy for you so I suggest you try it out, who knows you may love it like I do! I love their rice as well, it is always well prepared with the right combo of golden noodley goodness and roasted almonds. This alone costs around 30 bucks, which is the best deal I have ever seen. ( See photo ). They also have freshly made juices, I had their beet and carrot juice ( very healthy for you ). But just so you know, they do make fresh lemonade, which I have found is hard to find the REAL thing lately. The baklava is delicious for desert. Good portion (for one person), very healthy and fresh once again. The only recommendation I would say is to get the dressing for the salad on the side. -Okay so 2 salads, the platter, one beet carrot juice and one baklava with 15% tip came out to be 41 bucks. Seriously the best deal ever. If you haven't been here, you should def check this place out !

Me not liking a Lebanese restaurant is like... unheard of. Picked up a full veggie mezze, including hummous, baba, fatoush, tabouli, grape leaves, pickles and toum. The toum was good, all else was lackluster. Maybe because it was Monday and they were serving weekend leftovers, but it tasted like leftovers - old, sad, limp. This is a cuisine that needs to be fresh. Everything tasted underseasoned. Grape leaves in particular. Just disappointing. Pricey, too.

  • Elise B.

It's usually hit-or-miss with this place. Sometimes it's THE best Lebanese food I've ever had, and other times it's just not. I also noticed that the portion sizes are much smaller than they used to be.

  • Stephanie K.

Been to the Lebanese Grill twice now. First off, two things that are really great here: (1) When you sit down for dinner you are served fresh, hot pita with garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is awesome and like I said, the pita is fresh and hot - fab. (2) I recently splurged on a $4 "fresh lemonade" and did not regret it. Apparently, a fresh lemonade is more like a fresh frozen lemonade (blended up some juice and ice and whatever else in a blender). Maybe it's just because it was almost 100 degrees outside when I was there, but this was just perfect. Now on to the main entrees. The first time I ate here, I got a chicken shawarma pita and the second time, I got the shish kafta. Both were good but not excellent - I've had better Middle Eastern style food at Bucharest (Detroit) and at Anita's Kitchen (Ferndale). The prices are a little higher than average here ($13-$15 for a dinner entree), but you get a LOT of food (entree comes with either a massive amount of rice or fries, and a small soup or salad). I can usually box up what's leftover and have two more meals later. The service I've had here is pretty decent overall, although this past evening the waitresses that were working were almost too attentive. I mean, it's better than being ignored, but it's also nice to sit and down and have a meal and conversation without being interrupted every five seconds.

This place is always great! Everything is great and the owner/waitstaff always make me feel welcomed. The food is phenomenal, and this has become my favorite place to eat lebanese food at!

  • Kelly B.

Ehhh, this place was just alright. Not the BEST chicken schwarma around, but it was still good. I would have given this place 3 stars, but my Mom and I both ended up with really queasy stomachs after eating here. Because of that alone I will never eat here again. I don't know if we got a bad batch of something, but we both felt sick.

  • Magan C.

Delicious Lebanese food that's easy on your wallet! This place is about 5 minutes from my office and anytime my work team has a craving for chicken shwarma, we head here! The service is always quick. The waitresses are always friendly. The lunch specials are a great deal - tons of food for $6. Be prepared to leave with garlic coming out of your pores, but as long as you don't have any afternoon meetings you'll be good to go. The garlic sauce/dip/whatever you want to call it is delish!

  • Olivia P.

So this place does give you the most inexpensive Lebanese food i have found in the area. But there are two important things that are lacking. 1. The spices are almost undetectable. This would not be that big of deal except. 2.Service is awful. Last time it was slow and yet my water glass was not filled until we flagged down our waitress. Just a note the place is not big enough for her to be out of view from our seat. Today: It was packed! We decided save ourselves for waiting for less than good service; get carry out. We stand at the counter. There are a multitude of employees behind the counter. Three of them facing my coworker and I. All of them talking to each other about the tables. For five minutes we are staring at them waiting our turn. There was not eve an indication that we were there. Not a smile not a just one minute... Finally we walk out. It was a sad day for Lebanese Grill :((

  • Chris S.

I usually eat here once a month or so. Went last night & had the worst service ever. Waitress refused to bring our sodas & was put out to tell us the soup choices. When dinner came I only had two small meat patties for a cost of 13.99! (potato kafta special) won't be going back for a long time.

Mediterranean food is an addiction. Lebanese Grill feeds that addiction, and always leaves me craving more. The layers of flavor and the quality of the ingredients is simply mesmerizing. You can eat this food several times a week and never get tired of it because there are so many complementary flavors and textures working together in harmony. (I'm salivating as I type....) The highlights: For those of you not familiar with the garlic spread ("toum"), these folks do it right. They are able to take some of the harsh bite out of the raw garlic (my guess would be by lightly steaming it) for a much more palatable flavor. I've had toum in other places where you would swear you're noshing on a raw clove of garlic. Their hummos is of the creamy vs. textured variety, with a nice balance of lemon and tahini. The babaghanoush is expertly done. Their shawarma sandwiches are top-notch, although I will there is some inconsistency in the quality of the shawarma beef; a couple of occasions I've received overcooked, dry and chewy pieces. All of these items are noteworthy and deserving of consideration. But the Holy Grail of Lebanese Grill? That which I find myself craving, as my stomach and taste buds remind me that I will drive right past the restaurant on my way home? Their fattoush salad, and more specifically their salad dressing is worthy of an epic sonnet. It features the perfect balance of oil and vinegar, the right amount of sumac and oregano, epitomizing what Lebanese food is about; light, healthy ingredients exploding with flavor. My recommendation? The Fattoush shawarma salad, but if you are ordering take-out, have them leave the dressing on the side. If you have even a moderate drive your salad can be a little on the heavy, over-dressed side by the time you get home and get settled down to devour your meal. Bonus points to them for selling the dressing by the bottle for your personal pantry! This is one of my top four go-to locations in the Macomb/Shelby/Utica area. I will say that this location does execute a little better than the Troy restaurant, but i'm picking nits.

Husband ordered lamb ghallaba dinner, but received beef. He asked the waitress if a mistake had been made. She said no, she put lamb on the order, and that's what it was. Three of us tasted it and it was not lamb, but the waitress insisted it was even though she 'can't tell the difference' by looking at it. We suggested she ask the chef to determine this, to which she replied 'he doesn't know what he's cooking'!!! YIKES! Not a good sign if even the cook can't be counted on to know what he's put in a dish! We gave up the argument, because that's what it had become. Should have asked to speak with the manager, but had already waited too long for our meals to arrive and didn't want to invest any more time. Will not be going back to this place - and won't recommend it. The food is good, but the service STINKS.

Service was alright but the lunch menu and sandwiches are decent sized and are at a reasonable cost. The restaurant smelled kinda odd to me but I just assumed that it was just the spices...

I've stopped by for a quick lunch a few times now and I feel the food is better every time. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't tried too many things so I can't say I've tasted enough to give them I've, but the schwarmas, hummus and tabouli are fantastic.

I recently went to Lebanese Grill and ordered a Fattoush salad with chicken. I asked for the chicken that was prepared shawarma style for my salad. I have to say the chicken was absolutely disgusting. The color itself was so gross that I didn't want to eat it. It was really dark, and my mom even asked if it was steak or pork instead, but it wasn't. The pieces of chicken were fatty and gritty and just not good. I would have sent it back but I got carry out and I live to far away to go back, so I picked off all the chicken and just stuck to the salad (which was still delicious). I have to say, this is the first time I didn't like something from Lebanese Grill, but I did knock off a star because that chicken was just terrible.

I miss this place! I used to come here all the time with my bff when I lived closer. It's funny because we came here so much that the staff actually remembered us whenever we came back! I'll always remember how awesomely accommodating the whole staff was when my bff and I did our combined graduation lunch here with our families. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the chicken schwarma wrap. Everything else is amazing, too! The garlic butter, bread, tabouli and fatoosh salad are all the things we would die for. After having moved to California, I can never quite find anything like the Lebanese Grill. Oh, except for this one place in LA... Oh well! I'm so going to visit the grill again next time I'm in town.

I always wonder how this place has yet to close. The service is absolutely horrendous. I often notice the waitresses looking at customers up and down as in their way of judging them. Staff members yell at other staff members within clear earshot of the tables. If that wasn't bad enough, I'm Lebanese and have experienced many occasions where I overheard the staff making negative comments about the guests. Talk about very unprofessional! Regarding their food, it is definitely hit or miss; however, it has been miss after miss lately. I've found hair in my food in both of my last two visits. I always promise myself to never go back and if it weren't for work meetings or family/friend events I would have held true to my promise. I refuse to go back to this restaurant ever again! If you're looking for a good Lebanese restaurant try Palm Palace on Hall Rd or Fattoush on Hayes.

Always enjoyed the good food here. I have been here a few times with my gf and always had a good time. The chicken shawarma was good and most everything I had here was good. I know my uncle loves this place as well.

Ate here for the first time yesterday and it was amazing. Turkish coffee....mmmmm. GREAT service. GREAT food. The lunch portions were humungous. My husband has a huge lunch today from our leftovers. The rice was cooked perfectly. The hummous was very smooth and creamy. The bread fresh and hot. The garlic spread was a surprise I hadn't enjoyed before. VERY tasty. I am going to try the Troy location next but it would be hard to beat our waitress in Shelby.
